I see all those unplayed games you have. Don’t ignore them and put them in your label where they belong. You’ve never liked your completion percentage to be that high anyway, so join me in dragging it down a few pegs through the annual Bean Dive event. This year, we’ve included Bean Dive in our July TA objectives again, with a gold medal to be won for starting just three new games…starting numbers for every Bean Diver master!
The new hub is here, and this is where you can start your dive.
Bean Dive 2024: Everything you need to know
When is Bean Dive 2024 happening?
This year, the Bean Dive will begin on July 5th at 10:00 UTC. If you can’t start then, the event will continue until 23:59 UTC on July 14th. You can still start a Dive after this point, but it will not be included in the event statistics.
What is a bean dip?
You’re cordially invited to show a single achievement in as many of your unplayed games as you can manage so you can stop pretending they don’t exist. Please take a look at the first thread about Bean Dive for some background.
What’s the point?
The idea behind a Bean Dive is to force you to play all those games you got on sale or just never got around to playing. It also destroys your completion rate. We hope you will rise to the challenge of restoring it to its pre-dive glory before the next Dive begins. You may accidentally get more than one achievement, but that’s okay.
How can I join?
- To start your Dive, just press the button Start my dive button on the event page once the event starts.
- This immediately starts tracking the dive and captures your stats at that exact moment.
- When you start your Dive, a “Dive Started” message will appear in your feed.
- All achievements in new games earned while Dive will be grouped into a single, expandable item in your feed.
- You’ll see a new ‘Dive Summary’ box on the right side of your home page, giving you various information about the dive.
- Friend feed items and the Summary box can all be turned off, if desired, by editing your page settings.
- All Dives will have their own Bean Dive page on the site, which lists stat changes and lists all Dived games.
- When you finish your Dive, go to that page and click ‘Finish my dive’. Do not press this button until all Dived games are scanned or they will not count!
- You’ll get an “Awakening Completed” message in your feed, listing the number of games sunk and the drop in completion percentage.
- As you recover, you’ll get milestones to tell how far you’ve come. If/when you get back to your pre-dive completion percentage, you’ll get another feed message to congratulate you.
- Make absolutely sure that you have finished your dive before pressing the Finish button, as all recorded statistics will be reset if/when you decide to start another one.
What milestones can I get?
Your Bean Dive recovery points will depend on how many achievements you need to recover your Dive. It works like this:
- If you need less than 100, you get a single recovery message with 100% recovery.
- If you need 100-249, you will get two recovery messages: one with 50% recovery and another with 100% recovery.
- If you need 250 or more, you will get four recovery messages: one for every 25% recovery.
I have finished my dive and want to do another one…
You ridiculous fool! But ok, you can start another one by clicking Start my dive button again. However, to stop people from spamming Dives, you’ll be limited to four per year.
More than one achievement showed up when I started playing… is it still valid?
Yes. Although the idea is to show as few achievements as possible and then move on to the next game, we know there are certain games where you can’t help but show multiple achievements when you start. Just try to keep it as low as possible for maximum effect. Unlocking five or more achievements will prevent the game from being included in your dive stats.
Is there a minimum amount of games I need to make it a Dive?
No, not really, but to make it worthwhile I’d say make it at least ten if you can. You can only Dive games in which you have never unlocked an achievement before. Therefore, you can’t dive into the DLC achievements if you’ve already unlocked the achievements in the main game.
