New XDefiant ranked mode: 2024 rankings, modes and more details

XDefiant is more competitive than ever!

XDefiant is already pretty cutthroat, but the new ranked mode will present a unique challenge to competitive uber players. But before you jump into the game, it’s worth taking a look at how the XDefiant ranked mode actually works.

Since its release, XDefiant has been without a ranked mode, but that hasn’t stopped players from brawling hard in the casual game modes.

It’s safe to say that XDefiant is inherently an extremely competitive game, and now Ubisoft has added a new wrinkle with Ranked, a game mode specifically for serious players looking to earn RP (Rank Points).

Thankfully, it works similarly to competitive ranks in other popular shooters, but here’s an overview of XDefiant’s ranked mode to jog your memory.

The XDefiant ranked mode will be played between two teams of four players, matched by skill. This means you will be ranked against those within your MMR (MatchMaking Rating). If you win, you gain RP, and vice versa.

To keep things fair, the ranking system will match you with players within 15 levels above or below your current XDefiant rank. You can also call this your hidden MMR pool. While progression is purely based on wins and losses, your personal performance will be taken into account when distributing RP.

For example, if you were bot beating in a game your team won, you will be awarded less RP compared to the top scorer on your team. Points earned by contributing to the objective will also be taken into account.

This approach will help individual players not bear the full brunt of losing due to weak teammates. In other words, if you are the top scorer and your team loses, you will lose less RP compared to other players.

All XDefiant and RP rankings explained

There are a total of seven rank divisions in XDefiant, each of ten tiers, with the exception of the highest rank, Legends. Each level corresponds to 100 RP.

Here are all the ranks with their names:

  • Bronze
  • silver
  • bear
  • ruby
  • Emerald
  • DIAMOND
  • legend

In XDefiant ranked mode, you need a total of 100 points to advance to the next level. For example, if you are Bronze, you will need 100 RP to become Bronze 2 and so on until you reach Silver. Losing RP will definitely slow down progress.

If you’re looking to 4 stack, you’ll want to find players within the same MMR pool, which is somewhere below or above 15 levels of your current ranking.

For example, if you are Gold 1, you can only queue with players above Bronze 5 and below Ruby 5. This restriction becomes severe at ranks above Diamond, where you can only play as a duo.

Ranking reset will happen every new season. By default, the reset rank for all players will be silver, unless you are bronze. In this case, you will start from the same level you were in the previous season

New players will be happy to know that they will be able to practice in ranked mode without losing their precious RP. Ubisoft has called it the Ordered Practice Period, which will last a week before each season.

Rewards listed by XDefiant

At the end of each season, all players would earn some sort of reward that would reflect their ranked achievements. A list of the top 500 players in XDefiant will be published on the game’s official blog. These players will also receive an exclusive reward, starting in Season 2.

The reward for the top 500 players teased in the trailer is a bright orange M4A1 skin. For Season 2, Ubisoft has announced a LVOA-C skin for top players, which is a newly announced weapon.

Game modes listed in XDefiant

Ubisoft has announced four different game modes for ranked XDefiant, with Capture The Flag coming soon. Popular game modes will work a little differently in competitive ranks:

  • busy: In Occupy, teams of four challenge a moving point, which rotates in a predetermined order. Therefore, aiming will not be enough, but a team with a better grasp of the rotation order can gain an advantage.
  • dominance: Each team will have five minutes to play on one side of the map. The 10-minute mode will be split into two halves.
  • Area Control: The teams will alternate as attackers and defenders, but there is a twist. The defending team will be able to slow down the offensive team’s capture progress by staying in one zone.
  • Accompanying: This game mode will play the same way as in the cases.

That’s everything you need to know about the XDefiant ranked mode before jumping into the competitive madness in Season 1.
