Four New York hospitals — three in NYC and one on Long Island — are among the nation’s top 20 medical centers, US News & World Report announced Tuesday.
Mount Sinai Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell, North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health in Manhasset and NYU Langone Hospitals made the honor roll for 2024-2025.
All four facilities earned a spot on the honor roll last year for patient survival rates and quality of nursing care, among other measures.
Last year, US News stopped numerically ranking the top performers after accusations of bias and inaccurate methodology.
For its annual rankings, the outlet evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals, rating them on more than 30 medical and surgical services. With five hospitals highlighted on the honor roll, California was the only state to beat out New York.
Dr. Robert I. Grossman, CEO of NYU Langone and dean of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, noted that the awards extend to all NYU Langone hospitals, including Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion and NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in Manhattan; NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island; and NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.
“Not only is our overall ranking one of the highest in the United States, but nine of our specialties are among the top five in the country,” Grossman said in a statement to The Post. “We are unique in that exceptional patient outcomes come from all of our hospitals, with each of them contributing to our ranking.”
In its statement, Northwell Health reported that North Shore University Hospital ranked in the top 51 in all 10 specialties it serves. Six other Northwell health facilities also performed well in the ratings.
“Providing a great patient experience is the ultimate goal at all of our Northwell hospitals, and the latest US News Best Hospitals list shows how committed we are to making it happen,” said Michael Dowling. , president and CEO of Northwell.
In a memo to faculty and staff, Mount Sinai leaders noted that the hospital is on the honor roll for the ninth year in a row and is ranked no. 1 in the nation for geriatric services for the fifth year in a row.
