We won’t sugar coat it: PC gaming is the most expensive way to play the latest games—period. At least shopping holidays like Amazon Prime Day starting July 16 help soften the blow to your wallet. While we here at PCMag are trusted experts in reviewing gaming desktops and gaming laptops, we also have deep expertise in finding the best deals on those products, whether a shopping holiday is on.
Since we review dozens of gaming laptops and desktops each year, we know which products offer the best value, with or without discounts, and not just the budget-priced models. Prime Day is a great time to finally grab the most expensive desktop device or powerful laptop you’ve seen all year, just as it’s ideal for maximizing savings on those more affordable budget models. One of Lenovo’s best gaming laptops, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 earned an “outstanding” 4.5 stars and our Editors’ Choice award in our review. That’s thanks to incredible performance, a great display for gaming, a solid build, and surprisingly respectable battery life. In our review, we said that the “Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 [GPU] running a 2,560-by-1,600-pixel display with a 240Hz refresh rate” is “ready for the most demanding games.” You’ll find plenty of other configurations besides the model we reviewed. Regardless, though, this is a high-end gaming laptop that avoids the big price trap that so many competitors fall into.
In our review, we gave the Razer Blade 14 2023 an “outstanding” 4.5 stars and our Editors’ Choice award. That pattern is still relevant today, thanks to this year’s lack of new mobile Nvidia GPUs. This means you can save some serious cash without worrying too much about buying a very outdated gaming rig. In the review, we found that the Blade 14 “screams through today’s headlines, thanks to an AI-enhanced AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and high-powered Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics.” Of course, you’ll find plenty of other configurations that might better suit your style or budget, but rest assured that this is one of the best compact gaming laptops out there even a year after its debut.
A great alternative to last year’s Razer Blade 14, the 2024 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 earned an “outstanding” 4.5 stars and our Editors’ Choice award in our review for “well-built, satisfying to t “and a high-powered performer on the back of AMD’s latest Ryzen 9 processor and an Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU were used.” We especially appreciated its sleek redesign with a metal chassis, not to mention its 120Hz, 1800p display. Despite its thinness and fast screen, this Zephyrus has plenty of ports and surprisingly long battery life, making it a gaming laptop to covet this year.

at Dell
$1599.99
Save $400.00
Our 2023 Alienware Aurora R16 review praised this gaming tower for its “refreshed internal design” that “provides smoother operation, more speed, and wider appeal.” We gave it an “Excellent” 4-star and our Editors’ Choice award, but this deal here covers the latest model with a 14th-gen Intel Core HX processor, though still the same Nvidia GeForce-series GPU options RTX 40 as before. With that, we feel confident in heartily recommending this very lucrative discount from Dell direct. At this price, you’ll enjoy excellent performance and noise-free operation, not to mention a refreshing design with upgradeability and a wide selection of ports.

Asus ROG G22CH
An effective compact mid-range tower for space-hungry PC gaming setups
$1,599.00
on Amazon
$1899.99
Save $300.99
If you’re looking for a gaming PC that won’t eat up your desk space, then definitely consider this one. Our review of the Asus ROG G22CH praised it for being an “exciting little gaming rig” with “on-target GPU performance” and an “attractive compact design.” Our review was of last year’s version with 13th-gen Intel processing, but this deal is for the updated 14th-gen model, albeit, of course, with the same Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series graphics options as last year. With little else, we’re confident in this recommendation, and you’re saving a few bucks for a powerful gaming tower that won’t dominate your gaming den.
