A leaked recording of a Channel Seven special on Australia’s response to Covid reveals a furious audience objecting to a panellist.
The Spotlight, which aired on Sunday evening, covered several aspects of the pandemic response, including border closures, lockdowns, vaccine injuries and prolonged Covid.
It was the topic of vaccines that produced a heated off-screen showdown between infectious disease pediatrician Professor Robert Booy, one of four panelists in the studio, and the audience.
The outburst followed a question from audience member Ayse Goknur Shanal, who proudly declared that she had not received a single Covid vaccine.
Ms Goknur Shanal described herself as “one of the few people in the legal sector who took on the TGA and the rest of the government establishment for government corruption and medical corruption”.
“Why hasn’t there been a study, three years later, comparing the immune systems of those who got the first dose, the second dose and the third dose and the sequelae and the latency periods compared to how the unvaccinated are doing now?” she asked.
“We have a society that is chronically ill in the winter season and is not unvaccinated.
Professor Booy replied that “Australia has some of the best immunologists in the world” and “we look at responses to vaccination”.
A woman attending the taping of a Spotlight special teased the audience with her question about how Covid vaccines affect the immune system – but was cut off the air
“We look at people who have had no exposure to Covid or vaccination and their immune systems are compared,” he said. ‘So you’re wrong.’
‘And as for being healthy, that’s great. I am very pleased for you.’
The program which aired on Sunday night was immediately interrupted by another response from a fellow panellist, ANU Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases Dr Sanjaya Senanayake.
However, the leaked audio reveals that the exchange with Professor Booy was much more heated.
The questioner tried to interject with, “Excuse me…”
“To the people who have had Covid, I’m sorry, to the people who have had Covid, I’m sorry, let me finish,” Prof Booy said.
“People who have had Covid, people who haven’t been vaccinated get more severe disease and are more likely to get Covid for a long time.”
The audience erupted with one man heard shouting: ‘Bulls***’.
“That’s a lie, mate,” shouted another.
“You should get your license back,” added another.
“That’s the biggest lie” and “snake oil salesman” were also heard being chanted by audience members.
Spotlight host Michael Usher had to step in to restore order.
“I like that you have looks,” he told the crowd.
Professor Robert Booy’s defense of Covid vaccines led to a fiery confrontation
‘Please intervene. I want to get to as many questions as possible. Don’t swear, I’ll handle it in the audience, so please don’t. Go ahead.’
The leaked audio also revealed a question about vaccines made by freelance journalist Alison Bevege was also left on the cutting room floor.
Mr Bevege, who writes a Substack Letters from Australia, held up a laminated A4 printout of a large black triangle pointing downwards, labeled Black Triangle Scheme.
‘Why don’t most Australians know what this symbol means?’ she asked.
“This was in your vaccine box – your gene vaccine, mRNA products for Covid. This was in the box and insert. It means they are provisionally registered.
“It would have been illegal in 2016. They changed the law in 2018 to allow products on the market that had not completed all the testing required for full registration.
“This symbol meant that your doctor or you should report any possible side effects to the TGA, because they are still building the drug’s safety profile.
Because people did not know this, they did not report their side effects.
So the TGA does not know the exact number of people who died and were injured by these products.
‘That’s why you have an audience full of angry people. Thank you.’
A round of applause was heard from the audience.
While the entire question was cut for the broadcast version of the program, Professor Senanayake’s response was left in.
Freelance journalist Alison Bevege asked a question about the provisional authorization of vaccines, but she was removed from the broadcast show while her intervention was later left on
“If we’re going to see really, really, really rare side effects, we’ve had seven to 10 billion doses to look at them and we haven’t heard of anything unusual at this point, but we’ll continue to look ,” he said.
‘This is not true!’ Ms Bevege shouted from the audience, appearing to do so at random on the broadcast show.
‘You are not collecting data in a controlled manner. This is not a test, it’s just giving it to everyone’.
“I don’t agree with that,” replied Professor Senanayake.
The TGA told Daily Mail Australia that the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines “was supported by comprehensive safety information and strong promotion of adverse event reporting”.
“We published the COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Report, initially bi-weekly and later monthly, for more than 2 years,” the watchdog said.
“Adverse event reporting is also featured in vaccination provider training and other materials targeted at health professionals.”
Daily Mail Australia contacted Channel Seven and Professor Booy for comment.
