A much-loved bridal shop dubbed Scotland’s best bridal boutique has announced its shock closure – leaving fans gutted.
That Special Wedding Day, located on Baird Road in Livingston, has served thousands of clients since it first opened ten years ago.
But bosses revealed the store will close its doors for the last time in the coming months, although no exact date has been announced.
Gutted staff announced the closure to customers in a heartbreaking social media post earlier today.
In it, bosses explained that the store had been forced to close for “personal reasons” but thanked everyone for their support.
All members of staff are also said to have lost their jobs during the “very stressful and upsetting time”.
Announcing the news on Facebook, the shop owner said: “It is with absolute sadness that I announce the closing of my That Special Day Bridal shop due to personal reasons.
“However, I am very grateful to every customer who has walked through our doors and given me and my staff the pleasure of being a part of your special day.
TSD was never just a business, it was never just selling a dress. For me and my staff it was much more than that

“The memories, laughs and friendships we’ve made over the past 10 years will stay with us forever.
“With thousands of customers on our records, there are sure to be many fond memories to recall.
“I will never get over how far we have come with the store and I will always look back fondly and be forever proud.
“TSD was never just a business, it was never just selling a dress. To me and my staff it was much more than that.
“It was to support and help our customers to accept that they are beautiful and that they can wear the most beautiful dress to match how beautiful they are, regardless of size, gender or even the expectations of others.
“Allowing them a place to come in where they feel safe and unjudged and able to be themselves so they can make the right clothing decision for them.
“It was also about being there for our customers from the moment they walk into our store until their special day.
“From day one our main objective was to deliver the ultimate bridal experience, and while the mocktails to say yes and all the little extras were lovely, it was the memories we helped create that were most special to all of us “.
Bosses also revealed the store is launching a huge clearance sale which will start this Saturday.
As a plus size bride looking for dresses it was very scary… But I found you guys at TDS and what a fantastic experience you guys gave me and memories I will cherish forever
Heartbroken customer
All stock will be reduced by 30 per cent and customers will need an appointment if they want to visit this weekend.
However, any brides and grooms who have their eye on something won’t need to book an appointment from Tuesday, July 2 onwards.
Bosses added: “We’re about to start a clearance sale and we’ve estimated it will take around 6-8 weeks to clear our stock, so you’ll still have us for a few months.
“We will have ALL wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, flower girls, shoes, bridal accessories, jewelry, tiaras, mother of the bride dresses and so much more for sale.
“Please bear with us over the next few days as we begin to prepare the sale which we hope will launch in store this Saturday 29th June.
‘DO NOT BE AFRAID’
BOSSES at That Special Day Bridal have confirmed that all orders placed will continue as planned.
Posting online, staff wrote: “For customers with current orders… First, there’s no need to panic.
“Most orders are now in stock, and you should have been in touch by now to say so and arrange to receive your order.
“There are some customers we haven’t been able to reach or haven’t gotten back to us.
“If you haven’t already set a collection date, just give us a little message to do so.
“We have approximately 15 orders lined up over the next 3 weeks.
“Most of them should be preserved until Friday of this week.
“We remain fully committed to fulfilling all orders for our brides, so please don’t stress if your order isn’t in store yet as it will be here very soon.”
“If you already have an appointment, don’t worry, it’s still going on. All stock will be reduced by 30 per cent, so if you’ve got your eye on one of our dresses now is your chance to get it with an amazing discount.
“The closing sale will be an open event but this Saturday and Sunday ONLY we will be appointment based. Then from Tuesday 2nd July until the end of the closing sale we will be in attendance so that does not need a meeting.
“As you will appreciate we will be inundated over the next few days, please bear with us and be a little more patient than usual as we plan and organize the closure whilst managing current orders.
“Also, this is a very stressful and worrying time for our staff who have had to be told the sad news that they will be losing their jobs.
“If you are calling us, please keep this in mind and treat the staff with respect and understanding.
“Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to have TSD for the past 10 years. Much love always.”
Users quickly flocked to the post’s comments as they were upset by the news.
One person said: “Ah, I’m so sorry to hear that. What a great store and amazing team. As a plus size bride looking for dresses it was so scary and I always thought I’d never get that dream dress because of the size or I would get the same feeling of wearing as I would have to go online.
“But I found you guys at TDS and what a great experience you guys gave me memories that I will cherish forever. I wish you all the best for the future and I’m sure the decision was not made lightly.”
Another added: “The most amazing bridal shop! I got my wedding dress in March and was blown away by how helpful the staff were! I wish you all the best of luck in the future.”
Someone else wrote: “My daughter got her beautiful prom dress from Bridal Warehouse on That Special Day. Everyone was so lovely and helpful. I’m sure it will be a huge loss. You must do what’s best for you. I wish you all the best.”
