Apple’s next iPhone is still about three months away from its official launch.
But a new video clip may give us the best look yet at what the long-awaited device will look like.
Posted on X, the leaked clip reveals the case for the iPhone 16, which is allegedly modeled after the exact specifications of the new phone.
It suggests that the iPhone 16 will have a new button placed on the right side, which could be a game changer for selfie fans.
Due out in September, the iPhone 16 is expected to be the most expensive smartphone Apple has ever released, according to some reports.
A short video posted on X may give us the best look yet at what the much-anticipated iPhone 16 will look like
In the clip, the edge of the case clearly has a gap where users could use a new button
The video was posted on X (Twitter) by @UniverseIce, who is described by TechRadar as a ‘reliable’ whistleblower who leaks information on tech products.
In the clip, the edge of the case clearly has a place where users would be able to press the new button.
Referred to as the ‘Capture Button’, it enables users to activate the camera much faster than before, ensuring they capture fleeting moments.
With a single press, the Capture Button will take photos and start video clips and offer users an alternative to touching the screen.
This is corroborated by previously leaked image renderings showing the new button in the same position – on the right edge of the screen, below the existing power button.
Renders obtained by 91mobiles show the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro with the new Capture button (circled in red) directly below the existing power button
Additionally, the new clip suggests that the camera lens on the back will be positioned vertically rather than diagonally – again supporting claims from an earlier leak.
It’s unclear why Apple would opt for this vertical lens alignment, though it may have something to do with the new Vision Pro headset.
According to BGR, Apple wants all of its iPhones to shoot ‘space video’ that can be played in Vision Pro, but that requires a vertical camera setup.
Having already launched in the US, the Vision Pro will be released in the UK next month for the fantastic price of £3,499.
MailOnline has contacted Apple for comment, although the tech giant generally doesn’t comment on rumors ahead of a release.
Like last year’s iPhone 15, the iPhone 16 is expected to come in four different versions – iPhone 16 (standard model), iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
However, it’s not certain if all four iPhone 16 models with the snap button, or which model the case would fit in the new clip.
Apple’s first-ever mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro (pictured), lets users select apps with their eyes. It will be released in the UK, Australia, Canada, France and Germany on July 12
The Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone have long had three camera lenses in an “arrow” arrangement – with two on the left and one on the right (photo). But as of 2021, standard versions of the iPhone have two lenses facing each other diagonally
According to MacRumours, the screen size of the two Pro models – the two most expensive options – will be larger compared to their iPhone 15 equivalents.
The screen size on the Pro model will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max screen size will go from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches, he reports.
Although exact prices are unclear, it’s expected to outperform the iPhone 15, which starts at £799/$799 for the standard model, while the most expensive variant, the Pro Max, starts at £1,199/$1,199 and goes up to £1,599/ $1,599. for 1 TB of storage space.
The renders also show that Apple is working on the iPhone SE 4, the latest in Apple’s ‘budget’ line of SE smartphones and an upgrade to the iPhone SE 3 from 2022.
The release of the iPhone 16 will be accompanied by a major new software update, iOS 18, which will introduce a host of AI-powered features – unless you’re in the EU.
