LEGO Fortnite patch 30.20 reworks the progression systems while adding a new Glider and bug fixes. Start Searches also return to mode.
Since its arrival, LEGO Fortnite has been slowly improving through various patches and updates. 30.20 is probably the biggest patch to date, as it reworks the mode’s progression systems to make it much more accessible to new players.
With 30.20, upgrades are not tied to crafting benches. Getting Started Quests are also back, helping new or returning players learn the ropes. There are also some bug fixes for good measure and a new Glider to craft; here’s the full rundown courtesy of Epic Games’ Reddit post.
LEGO Fortnite 30.20 patch notes
Creation bench updates
We removed the upgrades from the crafting bench! We heard some comments that it felt too slow to access recipes you had already unlocked. (For example, setting up a new village in the Dry Valley and needing to re-level your bench for unusual tools.) Now, instead of needing to upgrade the bench, you can get the same recipes by getting resources. For example, the unusual ax will be unlocked when you get the bones. This should make it faster to create new tools as you explore, as long as you have the resources.
Additionally, more recipes will come with the crafting bench you first set up:
- Ax of the forest
- pickaxe
- Shovel
- Fishing rod
- Hunting dagger
- The beauty of health
- Torch
This removes the visual enhancements to the bench as well, which we know some of you have wanted to decorate with. Existing production benches will retain their visual condition and return their materials if damaged. Crafting benches installed after this update will not have visual improvements, however we are working on a way to bring back the visual improvements in a future release.
Unlock trigger changes
In v30.20 more recipes are revealed at the beginning of the game, and getting resources is what reveals the new processor recipes:
- Players will now start with the Crafting bench, Small Shack, Foundations, Village Square, Bed and Fire Camp available
- Picking up meat, corn, eggs, or the torch reveals the Grill
- Taking the wood reveals the saw
- Taking wheat or corn reveals the grinding of seeds
- And so on…
When you get a resource, you immediately have something you can do with it!
As part of this change, some item recipes have been adjusted:
- A torch is now required to create a campfire
- A torch is now required to create a Grill
- The metal crate costs no more copper and has stronger HP.
Brite bomber base
Finally, the newly created Survival and Cozy worlds will start you off at Brite Bomber’s Base. This is a new place where you help Brite Bomber start a village of her own! This will only appear in new worlds, as it is focused on new players, but more NPC villages are something we are working on for the future.
Village Brite Bomber goes up to level 5. Along the way, she will give you rewards for her help.
Brite bomber account inquiries
There is a set of companion quests for the Bright Bomber base. Players will complete all quest steps after helping Brite Bomber out and get XP rewards. Take a look at the in-game search menu to find them.
New glider
A new Glider has been added to the game! It will reduce durability slightly more than existing aircraft, but can be created with more readily available resources.
The recipe is learned when you set up a spinning wheel and requires yarn and rods to work. The existing glider is now 100% more effective at using stamina!
Beginning of research
Quests to start are back and now visible on the HUD. These quests can be done on their own or as part of the new Brite Bombers Base POI. Players who are already familiar with the game can long press the search button to disable the HUD text.
